This week's blog is about something a little bit different. I am not going to be talking about any of the amazing and truly gorgeous wedding venues that we have locally in Kent. This week I am going to chat about Bride Prep. Read on, you will be glad that you did!
You have chosen a truly beautiful and absolutely gorgeous venue for your wedding! It is going to make the most amazing backdrop to all of your wedding photos and they will look stunning. But what about the morning of your wedding? How amazing will those photos be?
Over the years I have photographed bride prep in small homes, and even smaller hotel rooms, and occasionally even quite big hotel rooms. There always seems to be a consistent theme in how the morning works. Bridesmaids perched on the edge of a bed or on the arm of an uncomfortable chair. Someone is always looking for a socket and can't find one that isn't being used. The bride is having her make up done, this is always in the kitchen because it has the best light, but it usually has the microwave and a fruit bowl in the background. The dress will be hung on the back of a door because there is nowhere else to hang it and make it look as epic as it really is.
This is where Sam and The Pretty Prep Studios near Ashford come in and re-write the rules.
Wow! I mean literally WOW!! Sam has thought of everything and brought it all together so beautifully in her oast house studio. Ample car parking for everyone, seriously, there are loads of spaces and plenty of room for the limo to get in and out of if you are having a limo. She has hair and make-up stations for 4 people to get ready at a time. The main studio is in the upstairs of a barn and is brightly lit and very welcoming, to the back of the studio is the oast house which makes for a great changing/dressing room and a lovely "getting in the dress" photo location. The lighting in the oast is beautiful and very atmospheric. Behind the studio is a large room which has a table and chairs, kitchen with tea and coffee, and a toilet.
Sam has thought of everything, whatever you could need seems to be just there, on hand, right where you need it. A steamer to steam any dresses that might need a little attention. Electric sockets are everywhere. There will be nobody that can't find a plug to use. There is a comfy sofa to lounge on and enjoy watching the morning unfold or perhaps to just chill for a little while with a glass of something cold. The studio is light and airy but incredibly inviting and warm.
I have photographed here a couple of times now and have to say that I really enjoy it. The studio lends itself to beautiful bride prep photos so well but it doesn't end there. Outside there are several areas for more photos if you allow enough time for your photographer to get them. A meadow, or the micro pub for some fun photos, or sitting in the sunshine in the courtyard with a glass of bubbles. There are so many possibilities for lovely photos at The Pretty Prep so drop by and have a look, you won't be sorry.
p.s. The Pretty Prep is also only a short drive from many of Kents lovely wedding venues. Kennington Hall, The secret Garden, Eastwell Manor, Crown Lodge, Billington Priory, just to name a few that are certainly within easy reach of The Pretty Prep Studio.
